Pablo Fernando

The Rev. Pablo A. Fernando is the first fully bilingual-bicultural pastoral psychotherapist in the Charlotte area. A minister ordained in his native Argentina, and now licensed by the American Baptist Church, Rev. Fernando has studied both theology and pastoral psychotherapy, both in his native Argentina and in North Carolina. Rev. Fernando graduated from the S.I.T.B. (International Theological Baptist Seminary) in Buenos Aires, first with a Bachelors in Theology and then with his Licentiate in Theology, both Degrees with a strong concentration on Pastoral Counseling. “My experiences with my own personal and family life,” he said, “taught me that the pastoral dimension of counseling is a unique and important part of the healing process for people with a spiritual awareness and for people from any life style … all people could benefit from this discipline”.  Rev. Fernando also has a strong background in the treatment of addictions, and offers both individual and couple/family therapy. He is able to work with both Latino and Anglo clients.

Rev. Fernando brings a wide variety of experience to his new position, including work with the YMCA, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff Department, radio and television broadcast work, Mecklenburg Women’s Commission Domestic Violence NOVA Programs, Mediation, Substance Abuse Treatment, and Seminary-level teaching in the area of Pastoral Care.
