Susan Gover Susan has practiced as a psychologist in Charlotte since 2004 and been involved as a psychologist in a variety of settings since 1990. She has worked with the public school system in Charlotte and the Center for Creative Leadership in Brussels, Belgium. Current research and theoretical understanding in the areas of affect regulation, attachment, trauma, transference and psychoneurobiology inform Susan’s work with patients toward a sense of wholeness. Susan works with those suffering from depression, anxiety, grief/loss, parenting, family and relationship issues, as well as with those struggling to adapt to life’s transitions and health issues. Susan co-leads a grief support group for family members of murdered victims offered through United Family Services. Susan is a licensed psychological associate and received a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. She completed coursework for the PhD, yet an opportunity to live and work outside the country preempted her from obtaining the doctoral degree. Susan holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from Hunter College in New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida State University in Tallahassee. Susan is a member of the American Psychological Association and the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation. Susan’s clinical training took place in New York at Manhattan Children’s Psychiatric Center, South Oaks Hospital in Amityville, and the Adelphi University Psychological Services in Garden City. She provided individual and group psychotherapy and administered psychological test batteries to both in- and out-patients. Additionally, Susan was an assistant editor of the Clinician’s Research Digest, an American Psychological Association publication. |
