MAKING REFERRALS
Ministers within the Presbytery have found it helpful to refer individuals to PSCC for counseling when the minister has insufficient time to provide the level of support needed by the individual. Difficult situations make it desirable to call on someone with expertise in a particular type of problem.

Recovery from emotional and relational problems often requires a sustained period of consultation, expertise in issues that may accompany specific problems, and a commitment to the recovery process from the individual involved.

Pastors who are uncertain about whether a referral is appropriate should call the main number (704-554-9900) and ask to talk directly to a therapist.

SCHEDULING AN INITIAL VISIT
Pastors may call the Center on the individual’s behalf, or the individual may call the Center directly. Referrals to a particular therapist are always welcome. All initial calls should be made to the Sharon Road office (704-554-9900). The staff receptionist will request basic information about the nature of the call. Therapists are assigned based on an assessment of the individual’s situation and needs. A therapist will call within one business day to determine the next step. An appointment can usually be set up within 48 hours.

Individuals can be assured that they will find respect, confidentialiality, and support from the moment of their first call to the Center. Above all, PSCC is a safe place and refuge to those in search of healing in mind, body, spirit, and community.
